«Was considered that it abruptly to be negative, especially in Chicago, bass player Joe Joe Principe remembers. Thus, for us with Tim Makilrot (Tim McIlrath the vocalist of group) to create something positive was an overall objective. The set of groups sings about negative things, and we simply wanted to show that it is possible to remain myself, to express the opinion and to bear a positive. We only wanted to be more productive in this plan, lyrical».
«Certainly, we not on are lyrical so much, as it would be desirable, as we position ourselves as political group, but that we feel are our social responsibility, adds Tim. Is not only responsibility of the person living on a planet, but also responsibility in relation to the punk to a scene. Such feeling as if we bear some kind of a torch of the punk. Many groups don't care of it, without considering it necessary to do something. We don't want to be group which considers by itself understood things which Minor Threat and Bad Brains by the own sweat and blood created which have made of me the one whom I am today».
Based in the end of 1999 Tim and Joe Rise Against rose from ashes of the former collective of Joe 88 Fingers Louie. Rise Against took for a basis Joe's experience and its former group a mix of the aggressive and melodious punk and a hardcore, and have tried to improve it, having added serious semantic loading in the form of the text and a vocal of Tima which force to think.
