Having been born in Manchester in 1970, David Gray still the schoolboy has moved with parents to the Wales where has left school, having arrived later in university of Liverpool. In student's years has started to play different pank commands and itself to write songs, truth in a bit different stylistics. Moves to London where it manages to conclude contracts with British label Hut Records and American Caroline later, and in the end of 1992 it lets out debut single Birds Without Wings tracks with which will appear subsequently both on the first and on the second album.

Next year there is full-length plate A Century Ends, successful enough, many songs get to rotation of the British radio stations, and the greatest success falls to lot Wisdom which Gray very often sings at concerts ''encore''.
